WE WANT TO MAKE YOUR VISIT AS EASY AS POSSIBLE

Visiting the racecourse

At Newmarket Racecourse we are committed to providing all customers with the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful experience with each visit. As such, should you require a personal assistant in order to visit the racecourse, you are entitled to apply for one complimentary admission ticket for a nominated individual. The Personal Assistant ticket is only valid once you have purchased a ticket for yourself. Our personal assistant policy applies to general admission tickets only. Should you wish to purchase an upgraded area or hospitality – please call the team to discuss.

The personal assistant must be able to provide you with appropriate assistance which might include:

  • Assisting you in moving around the racecourse
  • Helping you evacuate the racecourse in the event of an emergency
  • Accompanying and/or assisting you in using the racecourse’s toilets
  • Assisting you in purchasing refreshments and food or using other services
  • Assisting you in your transport to and from the racecourse

For any queries that cannot be addressed by our accessibility guide, please email newmarket.boxoffice@thejockeyclub.co.uk or contact the Racecourse team on 01638 675 500 option 1 then 3.

If you would like to find out more about the facilities and access for the July Racecourse, a Detailed Accessibility Guide can be viewed by clicking here.

You will need to purchase your entry ticket and then immediately apply for your personal assistant ticket by sending your order number and supporting documentation as detailed below, via email to newmarket.boxoffice@thejockeyclub.co.uk.

Applications and proof will need to be received at least 5 working days in advance of the event. Personal Assistant tickets will not be available on the day from the gates.

To avoid disappointment please be prompt when supplying your documentation as if an event sells out, we would not be able to offer a free personal assistant ticket.

Standard Race Days: As it is the Racecourses policy that all persons under the age of 18 must enter the course with an adult 21+, and this responsible adult, 21+ must stay on course for the duration of the child(s) time at the racecourse, the Personal Assistant Admission Policy does not apply to persons aged 17 and under on our standard race meetings as under 18’s are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a responsible adult aged 21+ and above.

Newmarket Nights: For our Newmarket Nights all persons regardless of age must have paid for a full priced entry ticket, in this event we would offer a PA ticket for these events once we have proof of eligibility for under 18’s who require a Personal Assistant.

Please note that anyone under the age of 18 cannot act as a Personal Assistant for health and safety reasons. A PA must be able to support you throughout the course, assist with purchasing food and drink (which under-18s are not legally permitted to buy from our bars or betting partners), and provide care in the event of an emergency or evacuation.

It is important to note that Newmarket Racecourses do not recommend Newmarket Nights as being suitable for children under 18. If you do wish to bring them as part of your party, it is at your discretion, they can attend as long as they hold a valid ticket to gain entry (and must be the same ticket as the adult has) and there is a responsible adult of 21+. By purchasing a ticket for an under 18 you are agreeing to these terms as well as our full terms and conditions. For further information on our Newmarket Nights please see our Music FAQ.

Please note Summer Saturday Live the above applies, however we will offer discounted tickets for 15 and under.

We provide accessible viewing platforms on both courses. For music events, these platforms must be pre-booked, as capacity is limited. Please note that access will only be granted to guests who hold a valid wristband for the platform.

If you require a space on an accessible platform for a music event, please email your requirements along with your ticket order number to newmarket.boxoffice@thejockeyclub.co.uk.

If we reach capacity and are unable to offer an accessible platform or area for the event you are attending and therefore cannot meet your requirements, we will provide a full refund, along with our sincere apologies that we are unable to accommodate you.

For standard racedays, these facilities are available on a first-come, first-served basis and do not require a wristband.

Personal Assistance Ticket Conditions

The free admission ticket provided to your personal assistant will carry the same conditions as the admission ticket that you hold.

The eligibility criteria for complimentary personal assistant admission are regularly reviewed, and the racecourse reserves the right to update them from time to time. Currently, those who receive one of the following benefits are eligible to apply for a free personal assistant ticket:

  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Attendance Allowance (AA)
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
  • Registered Blind Certificate (CVI)

Please note that in all cases, the racecourse reserves the right to decline to accept an application or to request additional evidence if, in the racecourse's view and discretion, there is reasonable doubt that the applicant would be at a substantial disadvantage in attending without a personal assistant given the accessible facilities and services available at the racecourse.

What proof of eligibility needs to be provided?

  • To prove eligibility, you will need to provide the following in respect of one of the benefits referred to above:
A current copy of the awarding letter from DWP or statement confirming receipt of the allowance or if you are registered visually impaired then a photocopy of certification.
  • Photo ID which matches the details of the recipient of the above.
Please note that a blue badge/Access Card or Nimbus Card are not accepted as evidence of eligibility.

Assistance dogs are welcome to attend with their owners without additional charge subject to production of a valid identity document from Assistance Dogs UK or an equivalent international organisation.

A separate ticket is not required however owners should notify the racecourse in advance upon booking their event tickets so that any necessary arrangements can be made. Assistance Dogs must be kept on leads at all times, and we strongly encourage the use of an identifying harness to assist our teams in ensuring you are not challenged throughout the event.

Premier, Grandstand & Paddock and Garden Enclosure personal assistant tickets for events held at our July Course will be at the Free Pass Office for collection on the day of the event you have applied for. Personal Assistant tickets and wristbands for platform access on music events, must be collected with both applicant and carer present.

The Free Pass Office is located adjacent to the Premier Entrance 2 on the July Course.

For events booked at our Rowley Mile Racecourse, please head to Premier Entrance – Ticket Enquiries. Again, both applicant and carer must be present to be issued personal assistant tickets.

Please note our Personal Assistant Policy does not apply to customers with temporary impairments such as broken bones, healing wounds and women who are pregnant.

We have free ample parking on site, and you will be directed as you arrive.
If you have a blue badge, please display this on arrival and this is where you will be directed. The blue badge car park is located across from the Free Pass Office.

At the Rowley Mile, we have blue badge parking at both the Premier Entrance area and Grandstand & Paddock area.

If you do not have a blue badge but have difficulty and feel you are parked too far away, please let the parking steward know and they will arrange for the buggy to collect you from your vehicle and bring you to your required entry point.

Whilst our buggy service can pick up to 6 persons at a time, it is unable to carry wheelchairs.
