Award-Winning English Sparkling Wine

One of The Jockey Club’s partners is Coates & Seely, You may have seen them and Albion on one of our racecourses or enjoyed a delicious glass of their sparkling wine - the perfect addiction to a day’s racing.

We decided to delve slightly deeper into what makes Coates & Seely and their sparkling wine truly unique.

In 2017, two old friends Nicholas Coates and Christian Seely had a vision to create a sparkling wine to rival the very best in the world. Their vineyards are nestled in the North Hampshire Downs and enjoy an almost identical soil composition to that of the Champagne region in Northern France.

Using time-honoured French winemaking methods, they have achieved just that. In 2017 their wines were voted the Best Overall Wine, the Best Sparkling Wine, the Best Blanc de Blancs and the Best Sparkling Rosé in the UK (UK Wine Awards, 2017).

Coates & Seely are available on all The Jockey Club Courses.

Sparkling Wine and Food Pairings

Virginia Coates, who trained under Prue Leith has worked around the world as a private Chef. Virginia crafts and tailor-makes all the menus at Coates & Seely using locally sourced ingredients to make sure the food is expertly paired with the wine.

Here she take us through some dishes she has created for summer – which accompanies a glass of Coates and Seely fabulously.

Time for The Harvest

Coates & Seely use time-honoured French winemaking methods in their production process. They are just about to go into harvest, a very busy two week process where the grapes are picked and pressed and the viticulture year reaches it's climax.

Nicolas Coates take us through the process followed to make sure every bottle of Coates and Seely is truly delicious.

Join a Private Tour

Coates & Seely have recently launched a Private Tours Programme where bookings can be made by appointment only. The day starts with a tour of the vineyards and winery, followed by extensive tasting and food matching and a very special lunch under Indian Mogul Tents.
