Enjoying a raceday responsibly

Fans and visitors help to make a day at the races a thrilling experience, providing the atmosphere to match the first-class horseracing action on the track.

At The Jockey Club we want to ensure everyone who joins us has a day to remember – for all the right reasons.

For this to happen, we all need to play our part.

We ask our visitors to enjoy their experience with us, while behaving responsibly towards each other and our teams. In return we promise to provide the facilities, stewarding and zero tolerance policies to create the best possible environment.

In the event that we witness, or are made aware of any anti-social behaviour or harassment incidents, we are committed to taking effective, appropriate and proportionate action to deal with the situation. This may include removal from site, a lifetime banning order and reporting the matter to the Police.

If you experience, or are concerned about an incident of antisocial behaviour or harassment, please notify a raceday steward or Jockey Club employee immediately.

A welcoming environment for all

The Jockey Club is committed to promoting equality, inclusion and diversity for all our visitors and employees. Put simply, our events are for all.

As such, any conduct that violates an individual’s dignity or which creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, offensive or otherwise uncomfortable environment for an individual or group of individuals is not tolerated at any of our venues. This conduct may relate to, but is not limited to, the protected characteristics of sex, race, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief.

Thank you for ensuring British horseracing truly is a sport for all.

Clean and safe events

The Jockey Club operates a zero tolerance policy on the possession of and/or use of illegal substances. Visitors must not attempt to bring such substances into our venues, as if discovered, the substances will be confiscated and appropriate action will be taken. We work closely with local Police and security organisations, may deploy sniffer dogs at any of our events and conduct bag or body searches as part of our approach to ensure illegal substances do not enter our premises.

The Jockey Club believes in responsible drinking.

Having a drink can form part of the enjoyment of a raceday at a visitor’s discretion, like in many other leisure settings. However, we encourage anyone having a drink to do so responsibly and as part of our partnership with Drinkaware and The Racecourse Association’s ‘Pace Yourself’ campaign, we encourage racegoers to make informed choices by exploring the soft drink options and free drinking water available.
