Bet with the world

History

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) boasts the biggest, deepest and most liquid pari-mutuel betting pools in the world.

HKJC started local commingling with other pools in 2013, allowing customers of international partners to bet into their tote pools.

More recently commingling expanded to include some of the top international races worldwide, with the first World Pool taking place at Royal Ascot in 2019.

The impact was immediate, with turnover on all five days at Royal Ascot in 2019 up 75% on the previous year and last season £130 million was bet into World Pool during the Royal meeting.

Benefits

As a collaboration of global Totes, World Pool enables bettors from all over the globe to bet into a single pool, the result being enormous liquidity, and a multi-million pound betting experience.

Due to the dynamic nature of the pool, customers can receive higher pay outs than they would receive with bookmakers. In the UK, the Tote operates Tote Guarantee which means the UK and Irish pools will always match or exceed the industry Starting Price (SP) on Win bets.

From the 17 World Pool events that took place in Britain and Ireland in 2021, there was £363 million bet into the pool. These huge pools meant that if you’d placed a £1 bet on each winner on the 17 World Pool days on British and Irish racing in 2021, you’d have a 15% higher return compared with the industry SP.

At Royal Ascot in 2021, UK Tote customers saw the Tote+ Win price beat the Industry SP (Starting Price) on 21 occasions across the 35 races, and match on the remaining 14 occasions due to Tote Guarantee. This resulted in a 11% higher return compared to SP for Tote+ bets placed on their site.

Betting with World Pool also means customers can place bets without getting restricted for being successful, as well as having an opportunity for large pay outs through exotic bets.

  • Bigger and more stable pools to bet into
  • Potential for higher pay outs compared with industry SP
  • Customers are not restricted for being successful and winning
  • Larger pay outs from exotic bets, compared with the equivalent bets offered by bookmakers

UK Tote customers will be able to bet into the World Pool on both days of The Cazoo Derby.

Available bet types include:

  • Win (Single Leg bet) - Pick the winner of the race
  • Place (Single Leg bet) - Pick a horse to be placed. Hong Kong place terms apply
  • Exacta (Single Leg bet) - Pick the first two horses in the correct order
  • Trifecta (Single Leg bet) - Also known as the Tierce. Select the winner, the second, and the third horse in the correct order
  • Quinella (Single Leg bet) - Select the first two finishers in either order
  • Swinger (Single Leg bet) - Also known as the Quinella Place, Pick two horses to finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in any order
  • Treble (Multi Leg bet) - Pick the first horse in three races

During both days at Epsom, Tote will be offering Tote+ at tote.co.uk and the on the App which means an extra 10% on all winning bets. In addition, Tote Guarantee means the Tote will always match or exceed the industry Starting Price on all Win bets – so if the Tote divided is greater than the SP you’ll get paid out at the bigger price.
