The Road to Extraordinary Begins at Festival Trials Day

Blog 14th January 2019 Cheltenham

Racegoers often place Festival Trials Day on their radar from the start of the season as a place to catch a glimpse of some of the contenders for The Festival™ presented by Magners.

On Saturday 26th January we host the last raceday at Cheltenham before The Festival (Tuesday 12 – Friday 15 March), and you can guarantee an excitable atmosphere as racegoers search for a clue on who to lookout for at The Festival.

Last year, the proof was in the pudding with six horses who finished in the top three at Festival Trials Day going on to get placed at The Festival 2018.

A day to show what they’re really made of ahead of The Festival, with the Betbright Trial Cotswold Chase being no different. It is run over the Magners Gold Cup course and distance and often considered a trial for the big one on Friday 15 March.

Last year, Definitly Red saw off the eight-strong field of potential Cheltenham Gold Cup candidates to win by a notable eight lengths. The impressive performance put him in good stead for The Festival where he went on to finish a respectable sixth.

The winners of every race are worth keeping an eye on. Sizing Tennesse, Shantou Flyer, Black Op and Kings Odyssey all went on to build on their results from Festival Trials Day and finish in the placings at The Festival 2018.
