Changing Hands

Blog 17th October 2019 Cheltenham

Horseracing is blessed with heroes, from Sir Anthony McCoy to Richard Johnson to John Francome. Well known jockeys Ruby Walsh and Noel Fehily retired in 2019 and it’s time to welcome new and upcoming household names. At The Festival™ presented by Magners, we welcomed new names into the Winners’ Enclosure, highlighting a fresh era of racing talent.

As Prestbury Park was catching its breath after an emotional 45 minutes on Day Three of The Festival 2019, Noel rode his final Cheltenham Festival winner. His extraordinary career spanned 21 years and included over 1,300 winners.

Ruby Walsh’s career has arguably been one of the finest riders that Jump racing has ever seen, with a record 59 winners at The Festival, and taking home the leading Festival jockey award 11 times.

Both big shoes to fill, but we know there are an abundance of riders ready to fill them.

Read the full article here, and find out who we are looking forward to welcoming back to Jump racing at Cheltenham for another season including our excitement for Bryony Frost. We also reflect on Noel’s and Ruby’s fantastic careers.
