Kevin Manning

Born March 7th 1967, Manning is 54 years old and becomes the oldest jockey to win the QIPCO 2000 Guineas (or any other Classic) since Lester Piggott won the 1992 2000 Guineas on Rodrigo de Triano aged 56.

Jim Bolger

The trainer and his wife Jackie are the first owner, trainer and breeders of a Classic winner since Arthur Budgett, who owned, trained and bred the Derby winners Blakeney (1968) and Morston (1973).

Poetic Flare

Poetic Flare is a son of Dawn Approach, winner of the QIPCO 2000 Guineas in 2013. New Approach stood at Kildangan Stud in Ireland before moving to Bolger’s own Redmonstown Stud. The last time a 2000 Guineas winner was sired by a previous 2000 Guineas winner was in 1992, when the victorious Rodrigo de Triano was a son of 1984 winner El Gran Senor.

Odds

Returned at 16-1, Poetic Flare is the biggest priced QIPCO 2000 Guineas winner since Night Of Thunder won the race in 2014.

Aidan O’Brien

This is the first QIPCO 2000 Guineas since 2013 that Aidan O’Brien has not had a horse finish in the first four.
