JCR Good Will Abandonment Policy
OWNERS AND JOCKEYS
As part of The Jockey Club’s ongoing commitment to participants, should racing be abandoned in the middle of a card due to extreme weather challenges or issues with the ground, JCR will look to offer a one off, ‘good will’ payment to owners and jockeys to cover costs.
In addition, should racing be abandoned before the first race, but within an hour of the start then an abandonment payment will be considered. Please note, this payment will only be considered if there have been no previous inspections called.
The two payments include:
- Payment to owner(s) of any horse still declared in a race at the time of the inspection
- One £140 (Flat) or £195 (Jump) payment (equivalent to one riding fee) for any jockey with rides in the abandoned races, who have not had a ride in the races run
