"Roll On The Festival" Says Cheltenham's Superfan Ron Woolley

Blog 18th February 2019 Cheltenham

"Being a Cheltenham Superfan has been a brilliant experience for me and the year isn’t finished yet."

Back in Summer 2018, Cheltenham Racecourse searched for FOUR Cheltenham Racing Superfans. After many entries, we found our superfans who have gone above and beyond to ensure they attend every race meeting.

In February 2019, we caught up with Ron Woolley who has given us his highlights of the 2018/19 season so far...

"I have to mention the two highlights for me so far. The first was during the three day November meeting when I was privileged to walk the course with Aidan Coleman along with some of the other Super fan winners.

The second and for me, my best experience was when I was invited to visit Fergal O’Brien’s stables and experience firsthand the gallops and watching the horses go past at close proximity. This was followed by a brilliant breakfast at the local pub then off en route to Cheltenham for the trials meeting bagging two winners one of which was from Fergal’s stable (Benny’s Bridge).  This is something I will remember for a long time to come and leads me nicely onto the forthcoming Cheltenham Festival where I am looking forward to not only four days of brilliant racing but my first hospitality event as a Superfan,  courtesy of  The Jockey Club Cheltenham.

I’m looking forward to the Festival and watching Buveur D’Aire’s bid to win his 3rd Champion Hurdle along with Altior going for his second Champion Chase. Fingers crossed to see the brilliant Paisley Park win the Stayers Hurdle for Mr Andrew Gemmell and trainer Emma Lavelle.

Two nice horses I am looking forward to seeing run in the Champion Bumper are The Glancing Queen and Master Debonair which I have taken at some really good prices. My final horse I am excited to see and also a good hurdler is Elixir de Nutz out of the Colin Tizzard yard.

Roll on the Festival and Good Luck to everyone.

If you think you are a Superfan and love Cheltenham then I recommend you enter the next Superfan competition."
